Known Strangers

Last updated: Aug 1, 2026

Life is unfair.
Only God knows why we briefly met in this life.
And then the other moment everything’s gone.
Like a passing glimpse in a moving crowd.
What was his intention?
To start a stream
but dry it out ere reaching the far-away sea?
I sometimes wake up in the morning
thinking of texting you
about my projects,
my workplace tidbits,
my plans for our future.
And suddenly,
I grasp the harsh reality,
blinded by the ruthless Sun.
It’s over.
Scarcely can I can grieve,
when the busy day takes over.
You start calling me a known stranger
e’en prior to parting ways,
like burying a man while still alive.
And before I realise,
you are halfway someone else’s.
But was it really a right decision?
Were we really not meant for each other
even though our vibes and thoughts matched so well?
Or is it just easy for you to make vibes match
with anyone who crosses your threshold?
I don’t know.
But sometimes those flashbacks touch the nerve
of sweet convos,
now lost in the ruins of past.
